Camp Lejeune Press Release
NextiraOne Federal, LLC d/b/a Black Box Network
Services (“Black Box”)
Chosen To Provide Critical 9-1-1
Consolidated Emergency Response System by the United States Marines Corps
HERNDON, Va., May 15, 2007
- Black Box Network Services today announced their selection by the Marine Corps
Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) out of Quantico, VA as the Prime contractor to
modernize the on-base 9-1-1 system at Camp Lejeune, N.C. Black Box was chosen
to implement this mission-critical solution over several other bidders from the
GSA Connections Contract.
The 9-1-1 project, recognized
as the Consolidated Emergency Response System (CERS),
is designed to replace the existing 9-1-1 system at MCB Camp Lejeune. The new
centralized, secure command and control system leverages the existing telecom
infrastructure and provides real-time critical information from diverse,
incompatible inputs to allow for rapid and accurate communication with first
responders. CERS is fully compliant with E911 Phase II wireless technology and
incorporates the use of GIS images along with digital mapping in its response
capabilities. Along with allowing for enhanced location verification, this
system also provides a visual image of the location and surrounding area for
first responders. Black Box Network Services will
deliver a JITC/IA-certified solution.
The enhanced system is being
installed at one of the largest Marine Corps Bases on the East Coast. Major
subcontractors to Black Box include Intergraph Corporation, PlantCML and Unique
Communications. The project is estimated to be completed in the
September/October 2007 timeframe.
“We are privileged to have
been selected by MARCORSYSCOM for this important CERS project at Camp Lejeune,”
stated Jeffrey Murray, Vice President of Black Box Network Services Federal
Group. “We honor and value the work and dedication of our Service Members, and
want to provide them and their families the optimum in security protection while
they are on their home soil.”
The stated mission of
MARCORSYSCOM is “To serve as the Commandant's principal agent for acquisition
and sustainment of systems and equipment used by the Operating Forces to
accomplish their warfighting mission.”
